This stunning antique portrait measures 36 x 42 x 4 inches, featuring a captivating image of 25 x 29 inches. The painting, though unsigned and in poor condition, showcases a detailed rendering of a gentleman from the 19th century. Please note that there is a significant large tear in the canvas visible on the sitter's jacket, which is evident from both the front and back. While the paint surface exhibits age-appropriate craquelure and a layer of dirt and yellowed varnish, the gilded gesso frame, despite its minor chips and scuffs, remains structurally sound. Owning this piece presents an opportunity for restoration or a unique decorative accent for any collection.
