Product ID: 242050589

Description

This exquisite Japanese woodblock print, titled 'Sweet Pea,' is created by the renowned artist Rakuzan Kachō (Tsuchiya Rakuzan), known for his intricate kachō-ga (bird-and-flower pictures). Born in 1886 and active during the Taishō and Shōwa periods, Rakuzan Kachō's work is celebrated for its meticulous detail and naturalism. This print, part of his famous 'Rakuzan Kachō Gafu' series published between 1929 and 1933, showcases the delicate beauty of the sweet pea flower.

Dimensions: 11 1/2 x 17 inches. Condition: The print exhibits significant age-related toning, with a yellowish hue across the entire sheet. The right edge is rough, evidencing it was cut or removed from a larger portfolio. Minor foxing spots are present, along with light smudging and staining in the margins. The top right corner shows wear and creasing.

This collectible piece is not only a beautiful artwork but also a legacy of the shin-hanga printing movement.
