Description

An antique French onyx and ormolu (gilt bronze) four-glass crystal regulator mantel clock by Charles Hour, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This clock features a neoclassical design, including fluted or twisted columns and a beveled glass case showcasing the internal mechanism and pendulum. The white enamel or porcelain dial displays black Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, and a decorated brass bezel. The movement is an eight-day time and strike mechanism. Notable materials include onyx and champleve enamel, common elements in French clockmaking of this style. Dimensions are approximately 16 inches high, 12 1/2 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. The back of the base shows cracking. The clock winds but has not been further tested. It includes a key for operation.
